Awards

Although Goat Rising and Jersey Maid are relatively new names in the cheese industry, these exquisite cheeses produced at The Farmstead At Mine Brook have accumulated an impressive list of awards.   

Jersey Maid cheeses are entered in the first of its kind World Jersey Cheese Competition held in May 2008 on the Island of Jersey in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy, France.  With only 10 gold medals given out to the world, Jersey Maid’s winning a notable 2 gold medals is even more impressive when it is discovered that Jersey Maid was the only American Made Cheese to win gold at this international competition.  Medals received are:

· Jersey Maid Neige en Ete  - Gold Medal - ‘Mold Ripened Soft or Unpressed Cheese, Plain’ Category

· Jersey Maid Garlic & Herb Savory Spread - Gold Medal - ‘Flavored Cheese—Savory’ Category

· Jersey Maid Fromage Frais - Bronze Medal - ‘Fresh / Cream Cheese, Plain’ Category

2008

Goat Rising and Jersey Maid cheeses are entered in the Annual American Cheese Society’s Cheese Competition held in Burlington, VT.  This is the largest competition of it’s kind in North America with over 1,200 cheeses entered from 200 producers of cheese.  Medals received are:

· Goat Rising Nubian Smoked Cheddar  - 1st Place in the ‘Smoked Cheeses—Open Category Made from Goat’s Milk’ - The judges claimed this cheese as an “American Original”

· Goat Rising Creamy Dill Chevre - 1st Place in the ’Cheese Spreads—Open Category Made from Goat’s Milk’

2007

Goat Rising and Jersey Maid cheeses are entered for the first time in the Annual American Cheese Society’s Cheese Competition held in Portland, OR.  Medals received are:

· Jersey Maid Farmstead Ricotta - 2nd Place (Highest in Class) in the ‘Cultured Milk Products Category Limited to Fromage Blanc and Quark Cheese Made from Cow’s Milk’

· Goat Rising Garlic & Herb Chevre - 2nd Place in the ’Cheese Spreads—Open Category Made from Goat’s Milk’ Category
